UIF-Covid-19 TERS claims declined due to SIC codes?
Help! The Department of labour declined my UIF-Covid-19 TERS claims due to incorrect SIC codes?
Businesses enter the applicable Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes for their industry on their ITR14 (when submitting their tax return on eFiling) and their payroll system. Companies must use the correct Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes to claim Employment Tax Incentive (ETI) and UIF-Covid-19 TERS benefits.
If the Department of Labour declined your UIF-Covid-19 TERS claims due to incorrect SIC codes, you have two options to correct them:
- SARS MobiApp – Currently, you can not update the RAV01 form using the SARS eFiling (Web browser) system. However, you can download the SARS MobiApp from the App Store (for Apple devices), Google Play Store (for Android devices) or the Huawei App Gallery and update the RAV01 details using the app.
- ITR14 Submission – Update the SIC codes on your ITR14 if your Corporate Income Tax return is due and submit immediately.
Once your RAV01 is updated, your tax practitioner can send an email to the SARS practitioner unit firstname.lastname@example.org and request an urgent review of the updated RAV01. SARS will acknowledge the receipt of the request with an email containing a case reference number. If not resolved within two weeks, a complaint can be lodged through the clients eFiling profile under Services/Complaints using the case number provided. SARS policy then allows a further two weeks to resolve the matter.
